    TT2026 1.0.1

A fuller everyday weight for TT2026 and The Last Remaining Typewriter, with readable weight names in desktop font menus.

    Changes

    • Rebalanced weights 100–900: the new 400 sits approximately halfway between the previous 400 and 500. The adjustment tapers to zero at 1000; its outlines are unchanged. Both styles and LRT use the revised scale.
    • Desktop TTF/TTC weight names now run from Thin through Extra Black, with matching italic styles. Numeric weight values and CSS remain 100–1000.
    • Rebuilt all regular character packages and all twenty LRT faces, retaining fixed advances, alternating impressions, shared web accents and correction features.
    • Fixed an undefined metadata variable in the LRT builder.

The v1.0.0 release remains available unchanged. Disable or remove older installed versions before installing 1.0.1 to avoid duplicate font families.

There are separate web, TTF and TTC ZIPs for each design:

    BundleFile sizeContents
TT2026-1.0.1-web.zip31.96 MiB210 WOFF2 files and CSS with Unicode ranges; browsers load only the faces and character ranges used.
TT2026-1.0.1-ttf.zip57.95 MiB60 individual desktop TTFs: ten weights, three wear levels, upright and italic.
TT2026-1.0.1-ttc.zip52.01 MiBThe same 60 faces in one TrueType Collection.
TT2026-LRT-1.0.1-web.zip8.70 MiB20 WOFF2 files and CSS for The Last Remaining Typewriter.
TT2026-LRT-1.0.1-ttf.zip11.94 MiB20 individual desktop TTFs for The Last Remaining Typewriter.
TT2026-LRT-1.0.1-ttc.zip10.44 MiBThe same 20 LRT faces in one TrueType Collection.

Choose either TTF or TTC for desktop installation to avoid duplicate families. Use TTFs if an application does not accept collections. These are static faces, not variable fonts. Every bundle includes licensing and usage notes; SHA256SUMS covers all six ZIPs.

    The fonts

TT2026 has weights 100–1000 in Subtle, Worn and Battered. Each character has ten stored impressions. Broader wear, ink pooling, variation in key pressure and gently curved outlines give the letters their irregularity. The italic keeps its original outline width at 90% height and shares the upright’s advances and line metrics.

The Last Remaining Typewriter is a separate design with thirty impressions per character. Bent typebars, damaged faces, uneven pressure, faint second strikes and neighbouring bars knocking one another sideways describe an imagined machine with a long history. Upright and italic have separate fault patterns; the italic has gentler damage and its own weight balance.

Contextual alternates (calt) choose impressions deterministically inside the font. cv99 sets a paragraph’s starting impression: 0–9 for TT2026, 0–29 for LRT. Paragraphs can start at different points without JavaScript text replacement.

Both designs include reusable x, dash and underscore corrections (ss01, ss02, ss03), with optional red ink (ss04). Correction marks alternate independently of the letters and leave advance widths unchanged, including across spaces. Colour display depends on the application’s colour-font support; ordinary monochrome correction features remain available.

    Coverage and limitations

Regular TT2026 covers 729 upright and 462 italic code points available in the source fonts. The web Latin/common package contains 352 upright and 374 italic characters, including punctuation, currencies and symbols. Separate script packages provide Greek, Cyrillic, Armenian and Hebrew where source outlines exist. Greek, Armenian and Hebrew have no italic source; unsupported styles are not synthesized. The italic source lacks NBSP. Combining-mark positioning is not implemented: use supported precomposed accented letters. Exact ranges and exclusions are included in coverage.json.

LRT has a 114-character core: printable ASCII, the selected Scandinavian and European letters, euro sign, curly quotes and typographic dashes. It does not yet cover the regular font’s full expansion packages.

Regular web fonts share base letters and accent components to reduce download size, including where parts overlap. Desktop TTF/TTC files retain individually distressed accented glyphs. LRT retains individual outlines in all formats. The extreme weights are deliberately fragile or heavily inked, so readability is not uniform across the range.

    Verification and licensing

Release preparation checks font metadata, checksums, ZIP contents and TTC round trips. All 81 tests passed. Regular-font audits passed 3,900 shaping checks and matched 36,891 weight-1000 outlines exactly against v1.0.0. LRT passed 2,486 thirty-impression cycles plus 2,400 starting-impression/correction checks, with 7,202 unchanged weight-1000 outlines. Tests exercise real HarfBuzz shaping, alternation, starting impressions, corrections, fixed advances, reproducible builds and shared web accents. Browser specimens were checked with the generated fonts.

TT2026 and LRT are distributed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. Keep the included license and attribution notices with the fonts. Source code, configuration and usage examples are in the repository.
